Flowers: White flowers followed by attractive seedheads in late summer

Maintenance: this herbaceous perennial dies back in the winter, but appears again in the spring. Can be grown in a pot or in the ground but does not like drying out.
Soil: Moist, rich soil that will not dry out.
Uses: An aromatic plant the leaves can be used fresh in puddings, it has a sweet aniseed flavour. Seeds can be used in cooked fruit dishes and salads. The root can be cooked as a vegetable.
