Plant Area Team Member
Position summary:You will be based within an award winning team of nursery men and women who have a strong tradition of growing plants and inspiring the public to do the same. We are looking for a new member of the team to help with plant production, plant maintenance, re – stocking the plant sales area and advising customers. Although horticultural training is important for this position, ‘people skills’ are also paramount as we have a very strong ethos of customer service are keen to maintain the helpful and friendly service.
Tasks will involve:Plant propagation (seed sowing, pricking out, potting on and making up planted containers / hanging baskets), watering, plant maintenance, advising customers, processing plant deliveries, stocking up the plant sales area and visual merchandising of plants.
Qualifications:We are looking for candidates who have relevant horticultural qualifications, who are able to show experience of practical horticulture and for relevant customer service experience. It is not essential to hold relevant spraying certificates, but these would be advantageous. Confidence with computers is also advantageous. Candidates need to be physically fit as the position involves frequent lifting, bending and pushing fully loaded plant trollies.Hours: We work on a 2 week rota. The first week you are likely to be needed for 4 weekdays, the second week you are likely to be needed for 6 days, 2 of which will be on the weekend. Weekend work is essential for this position.Opening Hours: Mon – Sat: 8am – 5pm (8 – 6 April – June), Sundays: 10am – 4pmLocation: Groves Garden Centre, West Bay Road, Bridport, Dorset, DT6 4BA
