Weldmar Hospicecare’s Light up a Life service: Friday 29th November, 6:30pm at Groves Nurseries

Groves Nurseries will be hosting Bridport's Light up a Life service on behalf of Weldmar Hospice.

Light up a Life is an opportunity to remember those closest to us, whether they were cared for by Weldmar or not.  When you dedicate a light, it will be placed on our stunning Christmas tree and will shine bright until the 12th night.

Light up a Life services will take place in Blandford, Bridport, Wareham, Dorchester, Sherborne, Gillingham, Weymouth and Lyme Regis. For anyone unable to attend in person, there will also be an online service broadcast on Weldmar’s Facebook and YouTube channels, which will be available to watch until after Christmas.

The festive period can be especially difficult as we contemplate spending this special time of year without a loved one. The joy and celebration can make their absence particularly noticeable.

Light up a Life is an opportunity to remember, celebrate, and be thankful for the love and joy they brought us.

Dedicating a light also means that you continue to support Weldmar Hospicecare, as your donation will go directly towards our specialist care for adults in Dorset who have a life limiting illness, and support for their loved ones.

By dedicating a light in return for a donation to Weldmar Hospicecare, you will receive a special Light up a Life pack including a wooden star to hang on your local Light up a Life tree, or your own Christmas tree, a handwritten card from Weldmar, and a copy of the order of service.

Order of Service

The Light up a Life service will comprise of:

  • Switching on of the lights
  • Singing traditional hymns
  • Dedication of the lights
  • Readings and poems
  • A time for reflection
  • A solo performance
