Although we think of spring as the main season for getting plants growing, there are plenty of seeds gardeners can sow in July to keep the vegetable and flower patch full to bursting.

Suitable veg options for planting in July include:

  • Carrots
  • Beetroot
  • Radish
  • Salads
  • Dwarf French Beans
  • Peas
  • Sugar snap peas
  • Perpetual Spinach
  • Rainbow Chard
  • Spinach
  • Spring Cabbage
  • Kales
  • Spring onions

And in the flower garden it’s time to get sowing Biennials (plants that flower in their second year) such as:

  • Wallflowers
  • Sweet Williams
  • Forget me knots
  • Foxgloves
  • Honesty

...and you'll have a brilliant display next spring!
