We stock a wide range of herb plants to buy online and at both our Bridport and Little Groves Nurseries. Whether you use parsley with your cod, mint with your new potatoes or basil with your spaghetti, herbs are something which can enrich our lives.
They can be used throughout the home and they can help to boost your health. They can be grown in the garden, allotment, planted in your flower borders, grown in pots on the patio, and in many cases kept in pots in the kitchen. There should always be room for herbs as they are plants that earn their keep!
A herb is a plant that is valued for flavour, scent, or other qualities and at Groves Nursery we like to stock all the usual herbs that you would expect to see such as sages, thymes, mints, bay (etc.) but we also like to have an element of surprise and so stock more unusual herbs from all over the world.
Herbs have a variety of uses including culinary, medicinal, or in some cases even spiritual usage. Culinary herbs are distinguished from vegetables in that, like spices, they are used in small amounts and provide flavour rather than substance to food.
Some culinary herbs are shrubs (such as rosemary, Rosmarinus officinalis), or trees (such as bay laurel, Laurus nobilis) – this contrasts with botanical herbs, which by definition cannot be woody plants. Some plants are used as both a spice and a herb, such as dill seed and dill leaves or coriander seeds and coriander leaves.
All our herb plants are grown from seed or cuttings at our Little Groves Nursery and available for sale online (for mail order) and at both our nurseries.
We maintain a dedicated staff of herb gardener experts throughout the year and can offer you advice on the appropriate herb plants to purchase and post-sales help regarding maintaining your herb plants.
All our herb plants are grown in 9cm and 12cm plant pots by an expert Herb Gardener. As a result of their initial care and nurture we aim to deliver suitably robust herb plants for our customers to care for.
All our herb plants are sold 'pot based' and carefully despatched in protective cardboard packaging with the herb plant itself in a biodegradable flower pot.
Most herbs are suitable for indoor (kitchen) and outdoor growing (garden, patio) – see the individual guides for each herb plant.
All our herbs are available for sale online and at our award winning nurseries with mail order delivery throughout the UK and Europe.
Free postage for all orders over £50 (excludes garden buildings).
